Wafers
A wafer refers to a thin slice of semiconductor, silicon, and crystal that is used to fabricate integrated circuit (IC) and other micro device. Moreover, the wafer serves as the substrate for microelectronic devices that are built in and undergoes many steps in micro fabrication process, which include doping or ion implantation, etching, photolithographic patterning, and deposition of different materials. In fact, certain types of solar cells are made from such wafers. Meanwhile, a solar wafer describes a circular solar cell made from the entire wafer (rather than cutting into smaller rectangular solar cells). Wafers are formed of highly pure (99.9999% purity); nearly defect-free single crystalline material.
